SNOOP DOGG - SNOOP, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST + ELLIOTT RECEIVE RAP HONOURS

Rappers including SNOOP DOGG, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and MISSY ELLIOTT received high praise from their peers at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors ceremony on Thursday (04Oct07). Whodini and the New Jack Swing movement were also honoured at the fourth annual event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Stars including Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Nelly, Timbaland, Ciara, Common, Jermaine Dupri, LL Cool J, Pharrell Williams and Ice-T took the stage to pay tribute to the honorees by covering their music. Actor Harvey Keitel welcomed Snoop Dogg onstage, while actress Kerry Washington introduced the segment of the show honouring Elliott. She said, "You can call Missy Elliott a lot of things. Visionary, genius, hot girl and a force. She stands among the guys." The climax of the ceremony came when all four members of A Tribe Called Quest took the stage to perform Check The Rime and Award Tour.
