WILL SMITH - SMITH FELL FOR CANINE CO-STAR

WILL SMITH fell so in love with his canine co-star on new movie I AM LEGEND, he tried to buy her. Smith bonded with German Shepherd Abbey, and couldn't bear to be parted from her when the film wrapped. But owner/trainer Steve Berens, who rescued Abbey from run-down kennel, had no intention of letting her go, even after Smith offered to buy him a new house. Smith says, "I told him, 'Abbey has to live me please!' I was like, 'Tell me what you need - a house in the hills?' It was painful." Berens adds, "Abbey's part of my family and lives with us. I've told Will he can have sleepovers any time he wants."
