NIRVANA - SMEAR TO HELP WITH GERMS MOVIE

Former NIRVANA guitarist PAT SMEAR has signed to help make a new movie about his former punk band THE GERMS. Smear will act as musical director on WHO WE DO IS SECRET, which charts the life of the band widely acknowledged to have inspired modern groups like GREEN DAY. The film's MySpace page describes it as "the birth of punk rock in Hollywood and the rise of hardcore". ER star SHANE WEST will play frontman DARBY CRASH - who died in 1980 - and RICK GONZALES will play Smear. The film is expected to premiere at this month's (18-28JAN07) Sundance Film Festival in the US.
