KELLY SLATER - SLATER'S MUM: `KELLY'S NOT DATING DIAZ'

LATEST: Reports romantically linking KELLY SLATER to newly-single CAMERON DIAZ have been ridiculed by the champion surfer's mum. Diaz has been spotted spending time with pal Slater on Oahu, Hawaii's North Shore recently, leading gossips to suggest the couple is an item. But Slater's mother, JUDY, insists there is nothing romantic going on. She tells the upcoming issue of America's In Touch magazine, "They have been friends for a long time. "Every time somebody sees somebody else eating dinner, they think it's a romantic thing. It's silly." Diaz split from boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE just before Christmas (06). They announced the end of their three-year romance earlier this month (JAN06). Judy Slater insists surfing fan Diaz called her son and asked if she could join him for a break from the madness surrounding her Timberlake split. She adds, "She just called him and asked if she could come over for a few days. It was nothing they had planned."
