LATEST: THE FRAY rocker ISAAC SLADE is "getting to know" his long-lost English relative before deciding whether to inherit a $15 million (GBP7.5 million) mansion. The singer was last month (May07) found to be the closest living DNA match to English aristocrat Sir Benjamin Slade, owner of the 1500-acre Maunsel House, after an 18-month search for an heir to the property. Sixty-one-year-old Sir Benjamin is keen to pass the house on to a relative as the upkeep is expensive and he is no longer fit to keep it in order, with no U.K.-dwelling kin willing to take it on. The aristocrat entertained the star and his wife Anna earlier this month (Jun07) in a bid to convince the rocker to swap his native U.S. for the British Isles - and Isaac admits he was impressed. The Fray star says, "We had a wonderful couple of days with Ben, who (was an) amazing host. "For now, we're all just getting to know each other." Sir Benjamin is continuing to research his relatives, adding, "We're trying to check our family trees at the moment." Maunsel House in Somerset includes nine bedrooms, a ballroom, library, and an array of lakes, cottages and animals within its grounds.
