SEX AND THE CITY - SEX AND THE CITY DVD IS FASTEST SELLER OF 2008

The DVD release of the Sex and the City film has smashed sales records for 2008, it has been confirmed.

The movie - which reunites Sarah Jessica Parker with her co-stars from the influential New York show - sold more than 920,000 copies in its first week on release to become the fastest selling DVD of the year in the UK.

Michael Patrick King's film easily surpassed the previous record holder Ratatouille, which sold 700,000 in its opening week on the DVD shelves.

And according to the Official Charts Company, the Sex and the City movie DVD is likely to sell its one millionth copy in the UK in the next week.

The comedy drama took $56.8 million (£31.8 million) in its opening weekend on release in the US last May.

The first-week sales of Titanic - with 2.3 million copies sold on DVD and video within a week - remain the fastest of all time.
