Ex-FRIENDS star DAVID SCHWIMMER has claimed he will not be playing the character Ross Gellar from the hit show again.

In a statement that will disappoint fans of the American sitcom, which finished a ten-year run in 2004, David told the Sun newspaper that there would be no reunion for the old cast.

"We are not getting back together," he said. "I have not been approached; none of the producers have been approached."

He admitted that, even if there were some plans in action, he would still turn down the offer of reprising his role as geeky palaeontologist Ross.

"If I was asked to do it, I'd say 'No'. It was ten years ago and it's time to move on."

However, the 40-year-old has added that he owes a lot to the sitcom, which made household names of him and co-stars MATT LE BLANC, MATTHEW PERRY, JENNIFER ANISTON, COURTNEY COX and LISA KUDROW.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "I'm often asked whether 'Friends' has been an albatross around my neck, or whether people only see me as 'Ross from 'Friends', but I don't ever think negatively about it.

"Really, that show has been a blessing. It's given me the financial freedom to choose the projects I really want to do."
