THE WEST WING actor RICHARD SCHIFF regrets signing on to the hit US political drama for its entire run, because he feels it outran its popularity. Schiff, 51, also insists he may have reconsidered taking on the role of TOBY ZIEGLER if he had known the show would air for so long. He says, "At times I think it was the best thing on television, but no show can sustain itself for seven years. "For me it was too damn long. If I'd known the series would last that long, I'd have picked a more fun-loving person to play! "It was tough carrying the burden of a character with so much integrity. I became desperate to be someone new."
