SUSAN SARANDON and her longtime partner TIM ROBBINS are campaigning against a proposal to expand a hospital near their home in New York.
The couple owns a luxurious property in the Greenwich Village area of the city but they have been angered by plans to build a new, larger hospital just three streets away from their home.
The pair recently attended a Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing to oppose the expansion plans for St Vincent's hospital and have vowed to fight on against the building work.
Sarandon says in a statement, "Improving the hospital is a great idea. However, this can be accomplished without compromising the neighbourhood. St. Vincent's should consider the proposed alternative solutions."
However, the Hollywood couple's opposition to the move has attracted criticism, as the project will not only provide jobs for the local community but it will also improve healthcare for many low-income families, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.

Oh booHoo!!! The hospital is going to be three streets from her house. Give me a break!!! This spoiled hollywood prima dona needs to get real. This whole world is not here for her comfort. A hospital is needed to save lives, that takes priority over her property values. If she wants to live in peace and quiet, she needs to buy an island and live alone.
