DON CHEADLE - SANDLER AND CHEADLE IN PAIN ON SET
DON CHEADLE and ADAM SANDLER were in constant pain while making new movie REIGN OVER ME - because the dark and dramatic script gave Sandler a permanent headache and Cheadle tore his Achilles heel.
In the film, LITTLE NICKY star Sandler plays a man struggling to come to terms with the loss of his loved ones in the 9/11 atrocities and admits the harrowing elements of the story played havoc with his health.
He explains, "The first time I read it (the script) I was afraid of it so I just put it away. I was kind of scared of it. One night, a month later, it was next to my bed and I read it again and it was very moving to me.
"I couldn't stop thinking about it and it hurt my heart when I read it so much. I had a headache almost every day on the set.
"Normally, in movies, I go to my trailer and there are 10 guys hanging out with me and we're laughing. This time I was sitting all alone and just thinking and listening to my iPod... It was a lot of work emotionally."
And while he brought mental pain to the set, his co-star, Cheadle, was hobbling around after tearing his Achilles heel six weeks before shooting started.
He adds, "There were a lot of questions as to whether I was gonna be able to walk and run around and do things I had to do in the movie."
