SACKED ACTOR HOSPITALISED

British actor JEFF STEWART has been treated in hospital after reportedly harming himself on the set of a TV show. The star of popular drama series The Bill was treated in hospital after being sacked by producers on Tuesday (08Jan08). A spokesman for the show says, "Our primary concern is for Jeff Stewart's welfare. "We can confirm an incident occurred (Tuesday) following a meeting with Jeff Stewart, when it was discussed that Jeff's contract would not be renewed. "We are doing everything we can to ensure Jeff is getting the help he needs, and would ask that his privacy is respected at this difficult time. All our best wishes are with Jeff." Stewart has appeared on the police drama as PC Reg Hollis since 1984.
