A Czech lawmaker has launched a scathing attack on HARRY POTTER author J.K. ROWLING for criticising the country over its care institution ethics. Miloslav MACela, who overlooks social care standards in the country's Pardubice region, has accused the star of upsetting his staff with her "unjustified criticism". In 2004, Rowling denounced Czech care institutions, including children's and psychiatric wards, for their use of caged beds, and claimed the children in care were imprisoned for the majority of the day. MACela has since fired off a letter to Rowling asking the literary star to visit the institutions she verbally attacked. The letter reads: "Since you opened your mouth, the work of our employees has been the subject of unjustified criticism." Her comments, posted in an article by Britain's Sunday Times newspaper, were believed to have prompted the Czech government to reconsider the use of caged beds - leading to them being banned in early 2007.
