ROBERT RODRIGUEZ - RODRIGUEZ KILLS SON ON-SCREEN

Movie director ROBERT RODRIGUEZ decided to kill off his real life son on screen to "horrify the audience" - a decision that left him traumatised. The Desperado director had to think "long and hard" before filming the gruesome demise of his son, Rebel Rodriguez, in his recent horror movie Grindhouse. Rodriguez says, "I'd worked with my son, Rebel, before on The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl, and we did shoot a version where he survives. "But then I couldn't stop wondering how it would feel to do something really horrific. Here we were creating all this stuff to horrify the audience, and I thought, 'What would horrify me, personally, the most?' And the thought of killing my own son, on screen, certainly fitted the bill! "People might think that it's shocking, but when you are doing a tribute to Grindhouse movies, you've got to go at it balls-out!"
