Spike TV presents the second annual 'Scream 2007' held at the Greek Theater - Pressroom
Los Angeles, California ....
Film director ROBERT RODRIGUEZ's dream of remaking BARBARELLA looks to be over because he is insisting on casting fiancee ROSE MCGOWAN in the lead role. Universal Studios originally offered $200 million (GBP100 million) to do a remake of the cult 60's Sci-fi movie, but now they want to axe the project - and insiders are pinning the blame on casting decisions. A source tells the New York Observer, "It's sort of embarrassing for everyone involved, no-one thinks Rose can carry the movie, but Robert won't listen." MCGowan is best known for the TV series Charmed. Universal are said to be keen for more of a 'heavy-weight' actress to take the role. Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry and Jessica Alba are all said to interested.
