STAIND - ROCKERS OK ILLEGAL USE OF MUSIC BY SOLDIERS

Rockers TOM MORELLO, STAIND and KORN are giving US troops the OK to use their music without permission over shocking video footage from the frontline of the Iraq conflict. MTV bosses will air a collection of home videos shot by soldiers tonight (21JUL06) and decided to make sure the rock tracks used as themes for some of the harrowing footage wouldn't upset the songwriters behind them. Staind star MIKE MUSHOK had no problem giving his blessing to the use of songs he has written, admitting the footage he saw had floored him: "I don't know how you could watch that and not be impacted by it." But Morello, whose RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE anti-war anthem KILLING IN THE NAME is used as the theme to a simulated tank explosion, can only hope his music isn't being used to glorify conflict. He says, "It seems to me like it's a fan of the band's who put it to an exciting explosion. Alright. I'm just glad there's no one in that vehicle being blown up - I would have a much stronger opinion." IRAQ UPLOADED will air in America tonight (21JUL06).
