ROBINSON TO COUNTERSUE SUGARHILL GANG

A New York rap mogul on the receiving end of a lawsuit from two members of THE SUGARHILL GANG plans to countersue the stars.
Michael 'Wonder Mike' Wright and Guy 'Master G' O'Brien filed suit earlier this month (Nov08) against rapper and group co-founder Joseph Robinson Jr. over royalties from their 1979 hit single Rapper's Delight.
Wright and O'Brien, who are now performing as the Original Sugarhill Gang, have accused Robinson of using their names to cash in on the millions of dollars in profits they've generated with the hip-hop anthem.
But now Robinson is set to countersue the pair - over claims they are "encroaching on his trademarks", according to a report in the New York Daily News.
Robinson tells the newspaper, "It's really a sham to confuse the public."
The mogul and his producer wife Sylvia Robinson founded Sugar Hill Records in 1974 and brought together the original group members Wright, O'Brien and pal Big Bank Hank in the late 1970s.
