ERIC ROBERTS - ROBERTS INSPIRED BY OSCAR LOSS

HEROES star ERIC ROBERTS was so upset he didn't win an Oscar for his performance in RUNAWAY TRAIN he accepted lots of movie roles to increase his chances of winning the coveted award. The 51-year-old actor was sure he would win the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in the 1996 movie - but the gong was handed to Don Ameche for his part in Cocoon. But missing out on the award only made Roberts more determined. He says, "I was so upset that someone had walked away with my award that I completely changed my approach to movie-making. "Before that, I'd conscientiously and methodically only made one movie per year. But after that, I called my agent and said, 'Listen, from now on I will do any movie anywhere as long as there's one good think about it. Even if it's just a good location'. "I realised I had to stop worrying about being so over-exposed and needed to have more fun. And of all the 159 projects I've made, I've only hated about 50 of them."
