Socialite NICOLE RICHIE is learning to distance herself from fairweather friends who talk to the press about her. The 25-year-old admits it hurts when people she thought were pals sell her out to the tabloid media. She says, "This year, my biggest struggle has been realising that some people close to me are not good for my life. "I'm a girl and I love to gossip, but when I hear that people I consider friends are talking about me, it hurts a lot. "It's not, 'Is Nicole OK?' but more like, 'I heard that Nicole blah-blah.' "There are a handful of girls who are the subject of every joke."
