REMY MA - REMY MA FOUND GUILTY ON GUN CHARGES

LATEST: Rapper REMY MA faces up to 25 years in jail after she was found guilty of shooting of a woman outside a New York nightclub last year (07). During the trial, the hip-hop star - real name Remy Smith - admitted pulling the trigger and causing serious injury to Makeda Barnes-Joseph during a July 2007 dispute over money, but claimed the gun had gone off by accident during a scuffle. But a New York Superior Court jury on Thursday (27Mar08) found her guilty of two counts of first degree assault, attempted coercion and criminal possession of a weapon. Smith was cleared of five other charges, including gang assault and witness tampering. She now faces a minimum of five years behind bars when she is sentenced at a later date - but the convictions mean she could be sentenced to up to 25 years in jail.
