POP ARTIST PEELLAERT DIES

The Belgian artist who created album artwork for DAVID BOWIE's DIAMOND DOGS and THE ROLLING STONES' IT'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL has died after a long illness.
Guy Peellaert passed away on Monday (17Nov08), his agent Noemie Mainguet has confirmed. He was 74.
The painter, graphic designer and photographer made his name as a pop artist in the 1970s creating album covers for a variety of rockers and a number of posters for films like Martin Scorsese's 1976 classic, Taxi Driver.
He also designed the promo posters for Wim Wender movies Paris, Texas in 1984, and The Wings of Desire in 1987.
