THE POGUES were forced to pull the first of three shows at New York's Roseland Ballroom on Wednesday night (14MAR07) to allow frontman SHANE MACGOWAN to recover from a stage fall. The FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK singer suffered severe damage to his knee ligaments after taking a tumble from the stage during a show in Boston, Massachusetts on 11 March (07) and was still not fully recovered in time for the reunited group's New York concert. In a statement, the band's management says, "Shane is under constant medical supervision and analgesic control." As WENN went to press, last night's (15MAR07) Roseland Ballroom show and a third on St Patrick's Day (17MAR07) were expected to go ahead as planned. A Friday night (16MAR07) concert at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Electric Factory was also slated to take place, despite MACGowan's injury.
