THE POGUES - POGUES STALL NEW YORK RETURN AFTER MACGOWAN FALLS FROM STAGE

THE POGUES were forced to pull the first of three shows at New York's Roseland Ballroom on Wednesday night (14MAR07) to allow frontman SHANE MACGOWAN to recover from a stage fall.
The FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK singer suffered severe damage to his knee ligaments after taking a tumble from the stage during a show in Boston, Massachusetts on 11 March (07) and was still not fully recovered in time for the reunited group's New York concert.
In a statement, the band's management says, "Shane is under constant medical supervision and analgesic control."
As WENN went to press, last night's (15MAR07) Roseland Ballroom show and a third on St Patrick's Day (17MAR07) were expected to go ahead as planned.
A Friday night (16MAR07) concert at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Electric Factory was also slated to take place, despite MACGowan's injury.
