TOM PETTY - PETTY'S MUDCRUTCH HOPE TO ROCK ON

TOM PETTY's reunited first group MUDCRUTCH are determined to rock on if fans like what they hear.
Petty formed the act in his native Florida with pals Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh before he made his big break with regular backing band The Heartbreakers.
He reteamed with Leadon and Marsh last year (07) and added Heartbreakers regulars Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench to the Mudcrutch line-up and recorded an album last year (07).
And now, as the group prepares to play the first of a string of sold out California shows on Saturday (12Apr08), Tench hopes Mudcrutch will continue to record and tour around Tom Petty + The Heartbreakers' commitments.
The keyboard player says, "It's not a nostalgia trip. It's a living, breathing band. And it's certainly, I hope, not a one-off."
Campbell adds, "If there is an audience for it, we would certainly have a reason to do it again."
The new Mudcrutch album will be released on 29 April (08). The group's sold out tour has been extended due to demand for tickets.
