PETTY REFUSES TO PAY $480 VOMIT BILL

TOM PETTY is always wary of returning to fabled Los Angeles venue the Troubadour because he still hasn't paid a $480 (GBP240) bill he owes bosses from the 1970's.
Back at the intimate Santa Monica Boulevard music mecca for a six-night stint with his reunited first band Mudcrutch last week (ends02May08), Petty revealed he once threw up from the stage at the end of a drunken night.
Recalling the moment onstage on Thursday (01May08), Petty said he was very drunk when rockers The Knack asked him to join them onstage - and he threw up at the beginning of a planned solo.
He joked, "Drinks went flying... wardrobes were ruined."
Petty was then presented with a clean-up bill from the venue, which he has never paid.
Ironically, pal Bruce Springsteen tried to persuade Petty to join him at the venue a few nights later - when he'd been asked to join The Knack onstage.
Petty offered his friend pre-show advice: "Don't throw up on the tables."
