PEARL JAM - PEARL JAM AND IGGY CONCLUDE LOLLAPALOOZA
Legendary surf rockers Pearl Jam concluded Chicago's Lollapalooza festival yesterday with a two-hour set.
The band played a huge number of tracks from their extensive back catalogue to a tired and somewhat groggy crowd.
Chicago's mix of summer sun and sporadic rain showers made this year's festival slightly more stop-start than usual, but the final day's action was blessed with fine weather.
US southern rock band Kings of Leon were joined by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder in their set earlier in the day.
The Followill brothers thrashed through the hit tracks from their three albums in the searing heat, with singer Caleb sporting a new shorter haircut.
Veteran punks Iggy and the Stooges were another highlight from Sunday's lineup, playing their usual mix of hits from their first two albums.
The now-customary stage invasion was also enacted with Iggy Pop encouraging the crowd to storm the stage during the track No Fun, much to the dismay of the security team.
Johnny Marr's new band Modest Mouse also played, with frontman Isaac Brock snarling his way through the likes of Dashboard and Float On.
Other acts that played at this year's Lollapalooza included Muse, Amy Winehouse Interpol, Daft Punk, Patti Smith and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

This is a terrible review. Pearl Jam are not surf rockers! Eddie Vedder was a
surfer. Modest Mouse is not a new band they formed in 1993! If you don't know
what your talking about you certainly shouldn't type it.
