PATRICK WILSON WINS POLARIS PRIZE
Cult rocker PATRICK WILSON has beaten off competition from ARCADE FIRE and FEIST to land Canada's second annual Polaris Prize.
Wilson's album Close To Paradise earned him the $20,000 (GBP10,000) first prize after critics and music industry experts picked the release over albums by his fellow Canadians as the CD of the year.
The Polaris Prize is awarded to a Canadian album based on merit, as opposed to record sales, and is voted for by 200 of the country's music journalists and industry figures.
Wilson says, "Music's not a competition, so this is a bit strange, but it's such an honour. I'm very happy to accept this, very happy."

Yikes! You aren't very good at doing research... who is the knob who mixed up
the two?!
Patrick Watson from Montreal was the winner:

It was actaully Patrick Watson that won the prize, not Patrick Wilson.
Good work.
