STATUS QUO - PARFITT FINDS LOVE IN THE GYM

STATUS QUO rocker RICK PARFITT met his future wife as she worked out on an exercise bike. The guitarist admits he was 'too shy' to say hello to Lyndsay Whitburn, but plucked up the courage after a pep talk from an 80-year-old relative. He recalls, "I was too shy to introduce myself. She looked so lovely. I didn't notice her sweaty hair, I just saw this vision of loveliness. "I went straight to see my Auntie Dot, who's 80, and told her I'd seen this beautiful woman but, for the first time in my life, felt too shy to speak to her. "Dot said 'I've never heard you sound so enthusiastic or keen.' I went back to the gym the next day and we finally got talking. I felt like a tongue-tied schoolboy." The couple - both twice divorced - married in the Gibraltar registry office, where John Lennon and Yoko Ono exchanged vows.
