The producers of new movie THE PAINTED VEIL were so worried about stars EDWARD NORTON and NAOMI WATTS falling sick on set in remote areas of China they hired a Canadian cook.
The film backers were worried that local mountain cuisine near Beijing, Guangxi and Shanghai would leave cast members ill and so they insisted a proper chef was employed to serve up set treats.
Norton says, "We had a Canadian woman who was an all-star chef on set. I don't know how she fixed up things she fixed up in the remote places that we were."
But, although Norton was amazed with the cuisine, he wasn't always convinced he was eating what he was told he was eating: "She was probably telling us it was chicken and it was bamboo rat or something, but it was good."
