EDWARD JAMES OLMOS - OLMOS SLAMS US AND PUERTO RICO OVER VIEQUES CLEAN-UP

American actor EDWARD JAMES OLMOS has attacked the US and Puerto Rican authorities for not clearing up the site of a former bombing range on Vieques Island.
MIAMI VICE TV star Olmos was sentenced to 20 days in prison in 2000 for his part in a protest against the use of the island - located to the east of Puerto Rico - as a bombing site by the US Navy.
US President GEORGE W BUSH ceased bombing there in 2003, but Olmos claims officials have done nothing since to restore the area which environmentalists claim is heavily polluted.
Olmos, who is of Aztec and Spanish ancestry, told a news conference he will continue to protest until he has achieved his goal: "We are not going to stop until we make them see that a (clean-up) is necessary."

At last someone speaks out for Vieques Island, If I could find work or income
in the island i would stay to help in the cuase, but it seems like no one
cares, the people there are just so layed back and no progress and no jobs, yet
its one of the most beautiful places i have visited. Thanks to Edward James
Olmos for speaking out!
