THANDIE NEWTON - NEWTON BLAMES HURLEY FOR FAME HUNGRY CELEBRITIES

Actress THANDIE NEWTON has blamed ELIZABETH HURLEY's show-stopping red carpet appearance in 1994 for the rise in fame seeking celebrities.
Hurley became an instant star when she accompanied then-boyfriend Hugh Grant to the U.K. premiere of Four Weddings And A Funeral wearing a revealing Versace dress.
However, Newton believes the moment paved way for a new fame hungry generation.
The Crash star says, "Celebrity these days is just about wearing something plunging on the red carpet. There's such a hunger for fast-food celebrity. When you ask a kid these days what they want to be they say, 'I want to be famous.' That didn't happen when we were little. You wanted to be famous for a reason.
"I think Liz Hurley wearing that Versace dress started it all but anyone can wear a gorgeous dress."
