MTV - MTV TO AIR PROGRAMMES WITH A CONSCIENCE

Pioneering music channel MTV is to start making documentaries that address social issues. The shift from controversial videos and non-stop music comes as the station celebrates its 25th anniversary, and it is planning a series of documentaries investigating AIDS, sex, drugs and crime to mark the occasion. A spokesman for the channel says, "The MTV audience has never known a day without HIV. Young people are critical to ending the pandemic."
