FRIDA star ALFRED MOLINA was stunned when movie mogul RICHARD DONNER invited him to be part of comedy western MAVERICK, after the Brit upset the director by lying about his horse skills. Molina told Donner he was a great horseman to land the role of CEZAR in 1985's LADYHAWKE, when, in truth, he'd never ridden a horse. Filming on the period action movie came to a halt when Donner realised the actor had no idea what he was doing on horseback. The SPIDER-MAN 2 star recalls, "I arrived on the first day and they gave me this horse and I got up on this horse and I was terrified because this horse was a bit sort of frisky and wanted to get moving. "The stunt co-ordinator spotted me and said, 'You've never been on a horse have you?' and I said, 'No,' and he said, 'Get off, just get off!' "They gave me some lessons and stuff like that and that took time. In the end I didn't have to do much riding at all. "The director was pretty p**sed off, but in the end he was very sweet because he employed me again many years later in Maverick. I think he'd forgotten about Ladyhawke."
