HELEN MIRREN - MIRREN AND DENCH NOMINATED BY LONDON CRITICS

Fresh from their Golden Globe nominations yesterday (14DEC06), British actresses DAME HELEN MIRREN and DAME JUDI DENCH has received nods in their hometown of London. The London Film Critics Circle have nominated Mirren and Dench in both the Best Actress and Best British Actress categories, for their performances in THE QUEEN and NOTES ON A SCANDAL respectively. STEPHEN FREARS' film The Queen, which tells the story of British monarch QUEEN ELIZABETH II following the 1997 death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, is also up for Best Film and Best British Film. Meanwhile, TOBY JONES (INFAMOUS), TIMOTHY SPALL (PIERREPOINT), JAMES MCAVOY (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND) and CHRISTIAN BALE (THE PRESTIGE) are fighting it out for Best British Actor. The winners will be announced at a ceremony held at the British capital's Dorchester Hotel on 8 February (06).
