Veteran singer/actress LIZA MINNELLI has been battling alcoholism for three decades - and continues to struggle with her addiction on a daily basis.
The Cabaret star didn't sip her first drink until she was 30 - but eight years later, Minnelli had developed a substance abuse problem and was forced to acknowledge she was an addict.
She checked into California's Betty Ford Center and successfully kicked her habit - but the 62-year-old, a longtime Alcoholics Anonymous member, insists she still fears a relapse.
She says, "I will tell you this. It's been a long, long time (since my last drink). I'm a recovering alcoholic, though. I will never say I've recovered."

Everyone who realizes that we cannot drink alcohol are in recovery. Being in recovery
has nothing to do with fear. In fact, it has everything to do with feeling that by
recognizing a higher power working in our lives, we will be okay today. Instead of
you hoping that Liza is in fear, and deciding for her what she said, try putting a
positive spin on what you report. Unless of course you are in the business of lying
because you think that is who your readers are.
