GEORGE MICHAEL - MICHAEL WANTS SOAP ROLE

Pop star GEORGE MICHAEL is begging TV bosses to offer him a cameo role in British soap operas EASTENDERS and CORONATION STREET. The former WHAM! singer, 43, devotes hours every week to watching the BBC's London-set drama Eastenders and rival channel ITV's northern soap Coronation Street. He enthuses, "It would be a great place to learn to act. My favourite (Coronation Street) character is BLANCHE HUNT, who is played by MAGGIE JONES. When you're as old as her you can get away with saying anything."
