EVA MENDES buys the rights to her favourite novels - so she can play the lead roles when the books are adapted for the big screen.
The actress is hoping to expand her career into producing - and has already begun purchasing the rights to the films she wants to helm and star in.
She says, "I want to bring certain meatier female roles to life, so every time I read a really interesting book, I buy the rights.
"As an actress, that's the way it has to go, otherwise I won't get the right roles, and then what? Am I going to sit here and complain?
"I will complain anyway, but I might as well do something and complain."
