MINDY MCCREADY - MCCREADY CONFIRMS AFFAIR WITH SPORTS STAR

LATEST: Country singer MINDY MCCREADY has confirmed reports she enjoyed a long-term affair with baseball ace ROGER CLEMENS - despite the sportsman denying the claims earlier this week (28Apr08).
The New York Daily News broke a story on Monday (28Apr08) alleging Clemens enjoyed a ten-year affair with MCCready, which began when he was 28 and married with two children, and she was underage.
And despite Clemens' adamant denial of an inappropriate relationship on Monday (28Apr08), MCCready is now admitting to an intimate affair.
Reading from a prepared statement, she told the New York Daily News, "I cannot refute anything in the story. Yes, I have known Roger Clemens for a long time. He's a kind and caring man. He's also a legendary athlete."
The singer said little more, as Clemens is under FBI investigation for perjury after denying, under oath, his former trainer Brian MCNamee's allegations he used performance-enhancing drugs.
She continued, "The central topic in the debate, however, regards his professional life, not his personal life.
"There are legal matters working their way through the system that have nothing to do with me. From my point of view, that is where the focus should remain."
MCCready is no stranger to scandal herself. She has a long police record, often linked to her drug use. She served time in jail last year (07) after being charged with battery, following a fight with her mother.
