MCCARTNEY'S U.S. ROAD TRIP
Former BEATLE SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has embarked on a road trip across America with his rumoured girlfriend NANCY SHEVELL.
The pair is reported to have hired a 1989 Ford Bronco car and set out across the country from MCCartney's home in New York's Hamptons last Thursday (31Jul08) - travelling the famed Route 66.
MCCartney and Shevell are said to have journeyed 1,000 miles from New York to Springfield, Illinois.
But their trip was nearly cut short after their vehicle came close to being impounded on Saturday (02Aug08).
Tony Contos of the Joliet Area Historical Museum in Illinois says, "They parked in the wrong bay and were nearly towed away. Paul was engrossed; Nancy seemed in a bit of a hurry."
