STELLA MCCARTNEY - MCCARTNEY SCOOPS DESIGNER GONG

STELLA MCCARTNEY has been crowned Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in London. The 36-year-old designer, who is pregnant with her third child, beat Anya Hindmarch and Luella Bartley to claim the coveted title at the British Fashion Council event on Wednesday (28Nov07). Accepting the gong from actress Thandie Newton, she said, "This is such a brilliant award but the people who really deserve it are my team. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have been able to have three kids under the age of three. This is also for my husband and children. Thank you for making my life worth living." Other winners included model Agyness Dean, who pipped Lily Cole and Pete Doherty's girlfriend Irina Lazareanu to scoop the Model of the Year gong, and Vivienne Westwood, who won the Outstanding Achievement prize.
