Metal band MASTODON have been forced to ditch their heavy sound - because a brain haemorrhage has mellowed out frontman BRENT HINDS.
The rocker was attacked outside the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas last September (07). He suffered a haemorrhage resulting from his injuries, and has battled with severe vertigo ever since.
Hinds spent much of his recovery time writing music under the influence of marijuana, which dulled the pain - but left him too chilled to rock out.
He tells Rolling Stone, "I was dizzy for eight months. During those months, I just sat with my acoustic and a little marijuana, and wrote all the music. I wanted a more melodic, easy-listening situation, and that definitely came from having head trauma."
