MARTIN HONOURED BY GRAMMY FOUNDATION

Legendary producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN was honoured by The Recording Academy's Grammy Foundation in tribute to his career in the music industry.
The 82-year-old hitmaker received the "Leadership Award" in front of fans and family at the University of Southern California on Saturday (12Jul08).
Guests including legendary songwriter Burt Bacharach, guitarist Jeff Beck, and Welsh crooner Tom Jones took to the stage to perform some of Martin's most beloved tracks.
Paul MCCartney and Ringo Starr missed the celebrations, as they were busy on their own world tours.
Sir George told the audience, "Paul and Ringo can't be here, because they're doing their own tour. They're workaholics. I can't understand why, but they are."
The widows of late Beatles George Harrison and John Lennon - Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono - were also in attendance to celebrate the producer's achievements.
And Martin - dubbed "The Fifth Beatle" for his influence over their work - took time to remember the pair, adding: "I miss a lot of people. Great people; John and George particularly. I miss so many people who have died on me. God knows I'm old enough."
