SMITHS - MARR TO TEACH UNIVERSITY COURSE

Former SMITHS guitarist JOHNNY MARR has been appointed a professor of music at an English university. The 43-year-old rocker has relocated from Portland, Oregon to his native Manchester to teach at the University of Salford, which is ranked in the top 10 for teaching in the U.K. A spokesman for Marr confirms, "Yes, he will be giving lectures there. He is really very excited about it."
