British singer AMY WINEHOUSE has reportedly received a personal call from former South African President NELSON MANDELA to ask her to perform at his 90th birthday.
The ex-politician called the Back To Black star to invite her to sing at his birthday concert in London's Hyde Park in June (08).
The 24-year-old didn't believe it was Mandela initially - but as soon as she realised it wasn't a prank she accepted his offer.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "Amy was stunned when she got the call. She thought it was a hoax - well you would wouldn't you.
"But once she worked out it was really him she accepted straight away and gushed about how much she was looking forward to it. She couldn't believe it."
Queen rockers Brian May and Roger Taylor, Annie Lennox and British rockers Keane are among the acts who have already signed up for the gig, while U2, the Spice Girls and Sir Paul MCCartney have also been approached to take part in the celebrations.
