MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER NOEL GALLAGHER STAGE ATTACK

A man has been charged with assault after pushing Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at a concert in Toronto.

The songwriter was playing the band's song (What's the Story?) Morning Glory, when Daniel Simpson, 47, rushed the stage at the V festival and shoved him from behind.

And according to the official Oasis website, Gallagher, 41, "fell heavily onto his monitor speakers" and was taken to hospital after the incident in Canada.

He may have sustained a fractured rib and ligament damage, a statement added, throwing into doubt Tuesday's planned concert in London, Ontario.

"Fans are urged to keep checking the band's web site Oasisinet.com and local media for updates," the news alert confirmed.

Security guards quickly restrained Simpson while Noel's brother Liam, the group's lead singer, had to be held back as he attempted to retaliate.

Simpson was later detained in police custody and has been charged with assault.

The incident caused a brief interlude in Oasis' set which resumed with The Importance of Being Idle and also contained renditions of Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger.

The fan attack was captured by a concertgoer and can be seen on YouTube.

Oasis' new album Dig Out Your Soul, the band's seventh, is released on October 12th.
