Actor JOHN MALKOVICH improvised much of his role as a STANLEY KUBRICK impersonator in his new film - as it made the character "more believable". The star plays ALAN CONWAY in COLOUR ME KUBRICK, an Englishman who pretended to be the reclusive director in the early 1990s. And Malkovich insists his approach to the part differed from any of his previous acting roles. He tells the New York Post, "(You) can just make up whatever you want, really. I didn't see the point in playing a character like that with an actorly consistency. "It seemed like (Conway) was making it up as he went along. So it struck me that it didn't matter how I said what I said. "I actively tried not to have any consistency." Kubrick died in 1999 aged 70.
