LYNNE SPEARS PLEADS FOR BRITNEY CHARGES TO BE DROPPED
BRITNEY SPEARS' mother LYNNE is appealing to a judge to throw out a driving without a licence charge against her troubled daughter.
The charge stems from a hit-and-run incident last year (07) in which the 26-year-old hit a car in a parking lot, drove off and was later found to be without a driver's licence.
And in a court declaration filed on Wednesday (18Jun08), the Lynne maintains the Toxic hitmaker has temporary residences in Florida, New York and California - and was therefore unaware she was required to hold a California state licence.
The document, obtained by TMZ.com, also alleges Britney intends to return to Louisiana to live - despite recent reports the star is hunting for a new house in Los Angeles.
The case will resume in court on 11 August (08).
