LINDSAY LOHAN - LOHAN'S MOTHER HITS BACK AT PARENTING CRITICS

LINDSAY LOHAN's mother DINA has hit back at criticism in the US media for letting her daughter's lifestyle spiral out of control, insisting the young actress needed to confront her problems herself. The MEAN GIRLS star checked out of the Wonderland Center in Los Angeles last month (FEB07) after completing a month-long stay to battle her drink demons. And Dina admits she is doing the best she can to help her daughter get her career back on track. She tells Harpers Bazaar magazine, "She is just a 20-year-old who had to reel it in. And she's from an addictive personality genetically. And in that world, they give you things like candy. Hurt your ankle? 'Let's give her something.' "Lindsay had to fall and get up. I knew it was coming. I told her, but finally she was like, 'Mommy, I had to do it myself.' You can lead a horse to water. You can't make him drink."
