LOHAN DENIES PRESS A MOTIVE FOR POLITICAL INTEREST

LINDSAY LOHAN has dismissed claims her recent foray into U.S. politics has been nothing more than a publicity stunt, following reports she is not registered to vote.
The 22-year-old actress hit headlines this month (Sep08) when she slammed Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin's stance against gay marriage.
Her name returned to political headlines shortly afterwards, when Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reportedly rejected her offer to lend her name his fundraising campaign.
According to the New York Daily News, voter registration records for Lohan have failed to turn up in her native New York and her current home in the state of California.
A spokesperson for the Mean Girls star has brushed off the reports, insisting Lohan has made plans to register for the November (08) election and blaming the delay on an oversight.
Lohan's representative tells the newspaper, "She is so happy you told her. She filed the paperwork and gave it to her business manager and is checking up on it now."
