Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy suffered the shame of winning three awards each at the infamous Razzie ceremony.

The two actors swept the worst actor, actress and supporting actor and actress gongs at the show with Lohan managing to take the award for worst screen couple as well.

The Mean Girls star, who was in and out of rehab in 2007 and even spent time in jail, played a double role in the horror film I Know Who Killed Me which involved her filming scenes with her alter ego – thereby getting her the award for worst screen couple.

The judges also gave the much maligned film the awards for worst film, worst remake or rip-off, worst director, worst screenplay and worst excuse for a horror movie.

Lohan's film and Murphy's Norbit were panned by critics upon their release last year and the organisers of the worst in cinema show were similarly harsh on Murphy.

The comedian, who donned a face mask and body suit to play a number of roles in the film, was told his portrayal of a Chinese man, overweight woman and the nerdy lead character could not have been worse.

The only other film to pick up a $4.89 (£2.5) trophy on the night was Cuba Gooding Junior's Daddy Day Camp in the worst prequel or sequel category.

The Razzies are announced the day before the prestigious Oscars which will be held tonight.
