THE CULT - LIFE ON MARS UP FOR 3 BAFTAS

LIFE ON MARS, the hit BBC1 cop show set in the 70s, has been nominated for no less than three Bafta awards.
The cult show, which has only run for two series, is a time-travel drama featuring JOHN SIMM as Sam Tyler, a police detective who has an accident and wakes up in 1973.
And the show has proved a hit with viewers in the UK, pulling in seven million for a midweek showing of the final episode last night – despite the Manchester United Champions League match on ITV at the same time.
LIFE ON MARS has now been nominated for three prestigious British Academy Television Awards, with the show shortlisted for best drama and the "audience award" for best programme of the year, along with a best actor nomination for Simm.
But fans of the show need not fear that there is no more from the time-travelling saga, as a spin off series named ASHES TO ASHES has been confirmed by the BBC – with series favourite PHILIP GLENISTER, who played Gene Hunt DCI, reprising his role.
