Veteran rocker JERRY LEE LEWIS insists his advancing years have turned him into a model citizen. The 71-year-old was regularly in trouble with the law in his younger days - plagued by problems in his personal life, the singer was arrested for gun crimes and battled with alcohol and drug problems. But the GREAT BALLS OF FIRE star claims he now stays on the right side of the law, refusing to even break the speed limit. Lewis says, "I abide by the law. If I hadn't a been a law-abiding citizen, I'd a been locked up a long time ago. "I have a new car occasionally. And I ride a motorcycle occasionally. But not very dangerously. "I do what the law says. If they say wear a helmet, I wear a helmet. If I drive, I drive the speed limit. I may go shoot a game of pool, that's the only vice I have."
